OH NO! CARMEN SANDIEGO HAS STOLEN YOUR ambition!
In this article about making computer games on a commadore amiga https://boingboing.net/2018/02/05/making-computer-games-from-scr.html, ROB BESCHIZZA uses the phrase "Frustratingly limited, yet wildly malliable" to refer to vintage computers.
And hoo-boy! That phrase leaves me with so much to say.
Modern computers ar the opposite. They have more power than we can reasonably comprehend. And they are frustratingly rigid.
OH NO! CARMEN SANDIEGO HAS STOLEN YOUR idea for a blockchain startup!
Alright, last batch of music from Django Reinhardt.
Here is a selection of 78RPM records he cut, available from Archive.org
For a portion of my life, Django was Jazz. Especially when I was a kid, Jazz started with Django, stopped at Brubeck, and didn't have a whole heck of a lot in between.
I've broadened my horizons since then, but Django is still pretty special for me.
So Happy Birthday, Django.
Back to Media!
This time, we're talking about some music. Specifically, Django Reinhardt.
Here's a thread about why I care about him: https://retro.social/@ajroach42/99402470504683209

Hi Folks, my good friend @CaptainUnderpants is looking to #selfpublish a #book of #photography
Who are your favorite #POD/#PrintOnDemand houses for full color/odd sized work?
Alright everyone, I'm looking to#selfpublish a book of #photography from my southbound thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail this summer/fall.
Specifically, I want to print all of my panoramic pictures in full color.
Does any one have recommendations on photo-specific resources for #selfpublishing a panoramic #photobook?
I am incapable of controlling myself when I watch this video.

a week or so ago I wrote a mail to a podcast I like, telling them I think they're great.
In their latest episode they mentioned that they were very happy to have received a fan mail. Like 1 fan mail.
I thought my message would just be one of many.
So anyway, if you can, tell creators you like that you like what they do, they might not hear it as much as you'd think. :)
I have removed Facebook from my phone, and replaced it with mastodon. I logged out from my office and my personal work machine, changed the password to something complicated and only store that on my desktop.
I have replaced visiting ~10 websites + tumblr with visiting my ttrss installation, although I’d still like to find three or four more to add to the stream.
I still need to work out a better workflow for blogging, but by and large I’m pretty happy with this workflow.
The beautiful saiga may look like it’s from another galaxy, but it’s actually one of Earth’s oldest living species, having existed abundantly in the time of the sabertooth tiger; it’s range spanning from the British Isles to Alaska. But we may see it’s demise in our lifetime thanks to illegal hunting, climate change, and disease. There were over a million in the ‘90s. There numbers have ben reduced to less than 50,000 since then. Long live the ancient #saiga.

on further inspection it looks like there *are* recordings of slayer performing Christmas carols, and they aren't listed as "sleigher" and honestly i'm disappointed...

HOW DO I KEEP MY HATS ON MY HEAD YOU ASK?
WHY IT'S SIMPLE, WITH A CAPS LOCK.
Podcast episode is recorded! Finally! I've done some basic production, and I'm sending it off to @CaptainUnderpants to review.
While I'm waiting on Lil' Ry to drive back home, I'll get to work on the website overhaul necessitated by the podcast.
I think it came out pretty well, and I'm excited to get it in front of people. [sooner now than before]
Vice's publication Motherboard says that "To Save Net Neutrality, We Must Build Our Own Internet" and will start publishing articles on how to set up decentralized internet infrastructure and start your own ISP.
That's going way beyond traditional journalism. That's really awesome!
