Hey Tootopia, it's #introduction / #introductions time!
Im Ryan, known in hiking circles as Captain Underpants; call me Cappy
nongeek happy to talk music/records/jazz, literature, nomadic living and ultralight backpacking
I hiked over 3k miles this year on the Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail. Looking to the Hayduke trail next autumn
Living out of my truck around Asheville, NC soon. I'll share what thats like on here.
@ajroach42 is my partner in crime off trail, I help where I can.
That being said, I just got off trail a few weeks ago after five months of hiking 20-40 miles a day living off poptarts, ramen, and frozen burritos, cowboy camping in the woods. The transition is weird. Over-stimulation happens from time to time, but I'm excited to get back to living around people again.
Happy (eager, even) to talk trails, society, outdoor ethics, hiking culture, public land conservation, etc. etc. etc.
Writing a book soon, help me out: ask questions!
peace, love, & miles
@CaptainUnderpants Hi! My hometown is Asheville and I currently live in the PNW. Never thruhiked but done bits and bobs of both AT and PCT...
@CaptainUnderpants holla ryan! I'm a short/mid-distance hiking enthusiast! I'm soft-planning to hike the kungsleden in sweden soon, and spent a month living in the smokies over the summer; i bet we've had near misses with path crossings :)
(i can only imagine how you got that hiking name!!)
Go say hi to Ryan?
He needs some friends.
Blow up his mentions, so that he can't focus while we're recording this podcast.
