Everyone was talking about Mycroft earlier.

It sounds like a good idea? How does it work in practice? Is it worth me taking the effort to rig one up, in a house without any "smart" objects?

@ajroach42 I just want one so I can I yell "myke, I need a boost" and it'll send me an email telling me I'm doing ok...

@twodimes @ajroach42 You can run the software independently of the hardware.

@ajroach42 It depends on what you want out of it. I think it's kind of fun and worth the time. I don't have any smart things either. Mostly use the Mark I in the kitchen. We probably interact with it on average 5 times/week. General informational queries, cooking timers and asking it to sing songs and tell jokes to entertain my toddler 😃.

It looks there has been some good work happening on new skills since i last looked too. mycroftai.github.io/mycroft-sk

@ajroach42 It's really extensible, and you can run it pretty much anywhere you can install the pre-reqs. I haven't had a whole lot of time to play with it lately, though.
