So, I find that I my old content is a) not necessarily intended just for children b) definitely something that is age appropriate, since it's all just raw footage of old children's software

But then, what am *I* legally supposed to do? Can I get in trouble for *failing* to flag something as children's content, or only for flagging something that actually isn't kid-appropriate?

Like how tf can I now be legally liable for videos I uploaded years ago and don't upkeep

The old solution was that children under 13 were somplo barred from any interactive website. Technically they still should be, but once Facebook opened up to the general public, children flocked to it and ever since, the sheer economic gain is too much for these social media companies to actively maintain that.

There has never been a good way to ensure that a kid isn't lying when they check that box, I did it all the time when I was 9-12.

YouTube should have taken a much clearer, cleaner approach to a child-friendly platform, if they wanted it at all. The reason why they didn't is because there wasn't good money in that. So now they've shoehorned all of us into being on the hook, by changing the business model without actually changing the years of back-content.
