Time to talk about #pocketchip some more instead of whatever else I should be doing.
The chip is faster than my pi2s\\at least as fast as my pi3s.
That means that Pocket Chip should be an instant winner. Fast, no SD cards to futz with. USB, keyboard, Screen, Wifi, Battery.
They keyboard is profoundly terrible, and fixing it is Hard Work™ because it uses a non-standard layout with lots of meta keys so I can't just print up generic keycaps and a shell. (And that's not easy anyway.)
All of these problems are solvable.
I can build a better KB overlay. It'll take some effort, but I think it's worth it.
Or I could design an entirely new case, with a real keyboard. Or use a BT keyboard.
I could install a larger screen or just run this screen at 1.5x resolution and deal with everything looking ugly in exchange for actually being able to use it.
I can write or find better software.
But it's going to be Work™
@ajroach42 this is all why i gave the chip away and await other, better small linux systems.
it's not that the cat can't be vacuumed, it's just that other cats will probably take less vacuuming for better results.
@brennen It's pretty much the only thing on the market right now, though.
At least at this size.
@brennen Like, what I really want is a modern HP200LX, but since that seems like a pipe dream I'm trying to make due with what exists.
Most linux software really hates being used at 480x272.
I get menu bars and scroll bars that take up 3/4 of the screen. I get windows that straight leave the display, and won't alt-click around like good programs.
No software that I have found so far accepts touch events or touch scrolling or touch anything accept as a traditional mouse click.
