@ckeen It's hard.
I use Amazon a lot, and feel bad about it.
There aren't better alternatives, though. Wal*Mart and Target and Hobby Lobby aren't great companies. Barnes and Noble is going under regardless of what we do, because they fired all their full time people.
It's not a great situation.
@RussSharek @ckeen Aldi, maybe? I get most of my groceries from Aldi and Trader Joe's.
Aldi's and Trader Joes are owned by the same, largely ethical, company.
One thing I love about where I live is the richness of grocery options. I can hit all of the above, and several mom and pop ethnic stores without driving all over the city.
Where we're moving, we have regional grocery chains, and local stores. The nearest Joes or Aldi would be 1.5 - 2 hours away. It'll be an adjustment.
But more local businesses is a good thing.
Absolutely. Strongly recommend you befriend your locally-owned grocery store. I've gotten great food recommendations that way.

@ajroach42 @ckeen
Target is at least slightly more socially ethical than Walmart or Hobby Lobby.
I often wonder to myself, "Where can I ethically buy toilet paper now?" whenever a large company turns out to be truly evil.
