Awright!

The first episode of space age tv is up on Analog Revolution.

You can subscribe if you’re a podcast-y person. (This is the full feed for all our shows, there are also feeds for each individual show.)

There’s still some metadata stuff to honk out.

@WritingPrompts

This is a horror story that fits this prompt that I originally wrote more than ten years ago. This is a second attempt, from ~2013. I haven’t so much as re-read it since then.

It’s rough and unfinished, but it fits the prompt pretty well.

Any theme, setting and story goes, but plot twist it with it being an advertisement for a product all along.

@ajroach42 I think I might go publish the mastodon episode of the Analog Revolution podcast, too.

Ryan and I still aren’t on a regular recording schedule, but I don’t care!

Podcasts with irregular release cycles are still valid, right?

@ajroach42 and I was worried about relying on a cellular connection as my primary internet in the new house, but 1 megabyte per second up speed is better than I even got on DSL.

So I think I’ll be fine.

On that note, I’ll have a preview episode of space age TV up online in ~half an hour if anyone is interested in checking that out.

@ajroach42 I’m supposed to close on a house in 12 hours and I’m nervous, so instead of sleeping, I made a preview episode for the video podcast.

I was able to edit it in about fifteen minutes, and export it out of iTunes in under 10 minutes.

But it was going to take 3 hours to upload at 76k/second.

So I switched to our lte connection and now it’s saying ~20 minutes.

Upload speeds on my LTE connection are 10x that of my mom’s satellite connection.

I need a decent video editor for ChromeOS/Android because I am antsy and I want to get started on this video podcast.

Do you know of any?

I feel like I want to say some things, but I don't know what things I want to say.

Just increased the resolution on my chromebook and hooboy! I don't hate this.

The "homeopathic pharmacopoeia of the united states" is a thing.

Why is it a thing?

OH NO! CARMEN SANDIEGO HAS STOLEN YOUR job!

Alright, so we drove around the property some today!

And it was fun!

And I've decided that maybe I don't need a 4x4 truck.

I still think a truck is necessary, and I'm still leaning towards the Colorado, but I'm not dead set on 4wd, so I can also look at more of the available rangers and tacomas, etc.

Andrew Roach boosted

@ajroach42 And if you're only driving a couple of times per week, that seems like less of an issue. If you can find one with low mileage to start with.

Which leaves us with the Colorado.

I'm hesitant to buy from an American manufacturer, because I want something that I can drive for more than five years.

But for my needs, I don't think there's a better option.

The frontier is mostly available as a 2wd, and has a lower towing capacity than the Tacoma or the Colorado.

It's consistently cheaper, which I think comes down to name recognition.

It's allegedly very reliable.

Better MPG, lower tow capacity, smaller overall size.

If this was for a daily driver, I'd go for the frontier in a heartbeat.

But I think 2wd, lower tow capacity, and a smaller bed mostly rules it out.
