What is with websites these days fading content in as you scroll down? It's like someone looked at an N64 game and was like, know what this ecommerce site needs, distance fog
@ieure almost ten years ago I had to surreptitiously gradually decrease the fade-in time on the websites I was building where stakeholders insisted the bonkers-long amount of time it should take.
"But If you speed it up nobody sees it fade-in!" Exactly.
@nyquildotorg Yeah, it's infuriatingly slow.
Then sometimes, if you miss something and try to scroll back it messes it all up. Oh joy!
@FediThing @ieure so much JS and bullshit that it can't stream all 10kb of actual body text at once so they use the fog to help it keep up
@ieure making my website scroll in the Z direction
@ieure "Optimization" attempts by people who have never been within two meters of a profiler, as far as I can tell
@ieure (By trying to avoid 'loading in' stuff 'until it is necessary')
