If your take on Mastodon is "it's full of the sort of people who know how to configure WiFi on Linux," that tells me you haven't configured WiFi on Linux since 2009.

@ieure
You uhhhhh click the little WiFi symbol in the corner, then you select the network, and you put in the password.

Am I doing it wrong? Is it supposed to be harder?

Steven G. Harms

@katanova @ieure the joke hinges on remembering the old days of defining network interfaces and not being able to get X11 working and the WiFi applet not being compatible with your install of gcc. If you were alive before the year of the Linux desktop it is triggering humor.

@sgharms @katanova You're under the mistaken impression that I'm saying I don't understand the joke.

@ieure @katanova I believed I was replying to Kat. I was taking her earnestly.
