Mildly curious about developing a basic text adventure. It seems like there's a variety of frameworks and tools available, and one could theoretically write one from scratch in pretty much any programming language while maintaining portability.

I'm not totally sure what the "best" approach would be. It'd be nice to have some little program that uses curses to render crude graphics for dialogue, but maybe something with almost no features or graphics would be a good first game.
