Wrote half of a blog post about the phantom of the opera, and then accidentally saved a blank file over the top of it instead of saving a copy under a different file name, so I guess I'm not posting a blogpost tonight.
So, for now:
29 print of The Phantom of the Opera: https://peertube.mastodon.host/videos/watch/8b1ada89-b0e1-4bd3-9c2d-3695193f65b2 (this is the one to watch. It has a score and is in color occasionally.)
A rough version of the 25 print: https://peertube.mastodon.host/videos/watch/32391a28-1ee9-4a90-aabe-4c74107baf30 but without any sound and in black and white.
The 29 print has a complicated history that I don't want to get in to right now. It has scenes that aren't in the 25 print, and has other scenes missing or in a different order.
Most importantly, though, the 29 print features the original color sequences.
The use of color in the Phantom is probably it's biggest strength.
Each has it's place, but as a movie to enjoy, the 29 print is the one to watch.
